Blood Blisters

1. Ice

The first thing you need to do when treating blood blisters is to apply an ice wrap against the affected skin area for about ten minutes. Give some rest and then apply again. The cold temperature will make your blood vessels constrict and it will reduce swelling and stop the internal bleeding. It is advisable not to apply ice directly on the affected skin area as it may cause your skin to burn. Always place a towel between the ice cubes and then only apply it on the blood blister. Instead of ice wrap, you can also use a bag of frozen peas or a cold spoon.

2. Aloe Vera

Aloe vera has anti-inflammatory properties and so it can be useful in treating blood blisters at home. You must apply fresh aloe vera gel over the affected area daily for a few days. This will give a cooling effect and alleviate the pain. If aloe vera gel is not available then you can use aloe vera juice which you can easily find in the market. One effective home treatment for blood blisters is a mixture of aloe vera gel and vitamin E oil. Take both the ingredients in equal amount and mix it properly and then apply it gently onto the blister and allow it to dry for some time.

3. Garlic Oil

Garlic oil has many essential components that can fasten up the healing process of blood blisters. Also garlic oil helps in disinfecting the infected blisters. Take natural garlic oil and slightly heat it and allow it to come down to room temperature. Now use this oil to gently massage the affected skin area. Leave the oil on the skin for about half an hour so that it gets penetrated deep inside the skin. Finally rinse the area properly with cool water. If required you can use a mild cleanser to clean the area. Follow this remedy several times a day. In case you notice redness on the skin due to the use of garlic oil, then you must not follow this remedy.

4. Sandalwood

Sandalwood is often used in treating various skin problems. You can use sandalwood powder to get rid of blood blisters in a very effective and quick way. Sandalwood is very useful as it can easily absorb the heat away from blood blisters and fasten up the healing process. Take some sandalwood powder and add some rose water to it to make a thick paste. Now apply this paste over the affected skin area and allow it to dry on its own before rinsing the area with cold water. This will ease the pain and inflammation. Follow this remedy several times a day.

5. Turmeric

Turmeric, known for its therapeutic and medicinal properties has been often used in the treatment for various skin problems such as minor burn, suntan and also blood blisters. Also turmeric powder is antiseptic in nature and also has exceptional healing powers. For treating blood blisters you can make a paste of turmeric powder and rose water and apply it on the affected skin area. Another effective home remedy to treat blood blisters is to apply a paste of turmeric and honey onto the blisters two to three times a day. Also it is recommended to add a teaspoon of turmeric powder to a glass of warm milk and have it before going to bed.

6. Cucumber

Cucumber contains silica, a kind of trace mineral, which strengthens the connective tissue that holds skin together. So when cucumber is applied directly onto the blood blisters it reduces the swelling, pain and inflammation. You can simply take a chilled cucumber, cut it into thick slices and put it over the blister for a few minutes. Repeat the process several times a day for a few days until you get rid of the blood blisters completely. At the same time it is also recommended to have a glass of fresh cucumber juice every day.

7. Tea Bag

The acidic element present in tea assists in the healing of blood blisters and it also has a protective effect on the skin. Take an used tea bag and put it in the refrigerator for half an hour. Now place the moist wet tea bag on to the blood blisters for a few minutes. This will prevent the blisters from actually bubbling up. Apply the tea bag at least two times a day. Continue this remedy for two to three weeks to make your skin stronger and healthier and to completely get rid of the blood blisters.

8. Witch Hazel

Witch hazel contains astringent tannins that not only helps to reduce the pain but also helps to dry out the blister very quickly. Spreading a small amount of witch hazel extract over the blood blisters can be very effective in reducing the pain and inflammation. Due to the action of astringent tannins present in the witch hazel, the blisters will also heal quickly. Follow this remedy at least four times a day for a week or two to get complete relief from blood blisters.

9. Tea Tree Oil

Tea tree oil also has many medicinal properties that will help to treat blood blisters quickly. The antiseptic, antifungal and anti-inflammatory properties present in tea tree oil will naturally dry out the blister. Take some tea tree oil and dilute it with water. Now use this diluted solution over the blisters and allow it to sit for about ten minutes. Finally rinse the area with cold water. This remedy is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women. You can also use ointments, creams, lotions, and soap having the goodness of tea tree oil to treat blood blisters.

10. Epsom Salt

Epsom salt will also help in getting relief from the pain and inflammation associated with blood blisters. Take some warm water and add Epsom salt to it. Now clean the blood blisters for about two to three times a day with this warm water. The warm compress will reduce both the pain and inflammation. At the same time it will make the blister pop out naturally.
