After you have your scrub ready, you will need to start with a clean pair of hands.  So wash them with soap before you apply.  Massage the mixture into your hands.  Work on this for about 3-5 minutes.  Then let it sit for about 10 minutes after.  Rinse and dry.

To use, simply remove your desired amount of the salt scrub from the container and massage into skin, avoiding your face. Alternately, you can add a scoop of your bath salts to warm, running bath water instead and settle in for a long soak!

I scrape out ~1 tsp, roll it into a ball with my fingertips, and apply it directly under my armpits, where it melts and soaks in. In the summer, I’ll keep the jar of deodorant in the fridge, since coconut oil liquefies at 76 F. Some people transfer the deodorant to an old anti-perspirant tube to make application easier.


(So far I haven’t noticed any staining on clothes, though if you’re concerned, it might be a good idea to wait a few minutes after applying deodorant, letting it soak in thoroughly before getting dressed.)

Mix the above all ingredients and apply it on your face for 15 mins and wash it with lukewarm water.

Repeat it for at least 15 -20 days to see vast difference in your skin tone.


Avoid going in the sun and always apply sun screen while going out.


Other Mask is Turmeric mask which is  very old and famous.It is also known as Ubtan in Hindi which almost every girl has used or will use during her Wedding. This Mask can be used at any age infact more your skin gets old more is the benefit of using it.


1.1/4 tsp Turmeric(Haldi)

2.3 tsp Gram Flour(Besan)

3.1/2 tsp Mustard oil (Sarson) or Almond oil

4.1-2 tsp milk to form thick paste

  1. Juice of Half Lemon.


Paste should neither be more thick and nor too thin.You can add more gram flour or milk to form it as a thick paste.


Mix the above Ingredients and apply it on your Face for 10-15 mts to dry.

  1. Beet Juice, Carrot Juice

These natural hair dyes can be used to add red tints to your current color. They can be used separately or together.  For natural redheads, this method can boost their color. For those with blonde hair beet juice hair dye can create more of a strawberry blonde shade. This natural hair dye mixture of beet juice  can be used as often as you like to reach your  desired color. Apply the beet and carrot juice mixture to the hair and work it through the hair. The beet juice mixture should be left on the hair for at least 60 minutes.


  1. Sage Tea

Sage tea  is one the oldest techniques for coloring darker hair. The rinse can be made from sage leaves or sage tea bags. The sage tea darkens and deepens brunet hair. This natural hair dye can also be used to cover gray hair. This rinse can be made by steeping the dried herbs in boiling water for one hour or longer depending on your desired shade. You can continue to apply the rinse weekly to also reach your desired color.


  1. Chamomile Tea

To reach your desired shade you can reapply black tea several times.

  • The first thing you should do is take at about 4 tablespoons of honey and add 1 teaspoon of pasted almonds (4 skinned almonds pasted with ½ tablespoon rosewater) to it.
  • Beat 2 tablespoon cream till its slightly fluffy.
  • Add the honey-almond combination.
  • Mix this together, and apply it on the hair from root to the tip.
  • Keep this paste on for at least 30 minutes (it is better if you keep this for about 1 hour)

  • At first, take one egg, and separate the yolk from the white.
  • To the yolk add 1 teaspoon lemon juice and 1 teaspoon almond oil and 1 tablespoon honey. Mix thoroughly and apply it all over your scalp.
  • To the white of the egg, add 4 tablespoon flat beer, and beat for a couple of minutes. Apply it all over the hair, from root to tip.

  • Take 1 tablespoon of plain water and add 1 large pinch of fruit salt to it. If you don’t have fruit salt then you can replace this with eno or even baking soda.

  • Apply this on the hair, from root to the tip, avoiding the scalp.

Mix equal quantities of petroleum jelly and glycerin and apply it on your dry skin of face and body and keep it overnight. Mix equal quantities of petroleum jelly, vitamin E oil and glycerin. Apply for half an hour over face and body before taking shower. Take plain water and glycerin in the ratio of 10:1 and apply it on your dry skin of hand and feet before going to the bed. This will give you soft skin in a few days. –


For having a special hand wash soap, mix glycerin with your liquid soap and fill it in a bottle. Wash your hands with this soap to avoid dry skin on hand. Take 1 tsp each of egg yolk, rose water, lime juice, olive oil and orange juice and mix them thoroughly. Apply this smooth home made dry skin lotion to your face in the morning and wash it off after 20 minutes –


Make a face mask by mixing honey, egg, olive oil and rose water and use it as dry skin facial mask. Get ayurvedic massage with herbal oil (made with vata balancing herbs). It is good to have daily body massage for people with dry skin but if that is not possible, take such massages at least once a week. Lavender oil and sandalwood oil are also good for dry skin for their soothing and cool effects. A few drops of these oils can be used in bathing water –


Mix glycerin, castor oil and rose water with 1 tbsp of ‘malai’ or milk cream. Apply this mixture on face, neck and on hands before going to bed. Wash it off with water in morning. This keeps dry skin hydrated during the day. Mix ground almonds, honey and malai (milk cream) and apply the mixture at least twice a week and keep it for half an hour. 130:Detoxifying Mint Tea

You can brew this as weak or strong as you like, really. I also like it chilled. I rarely sweeten tea, but

can imagine a bit of honey would be nice if you prefer a sweet tea.

Dry mixture:

4 teaspoons coriander seeds

4 teaspoons fennel seeds

1 1/2 teaspoons whole cumin seeds

2 teaspoons black peppercorns

Fresh ingredients:

– 3 ginger slices, 1/4-inch thick

– 16 fresh mint leaves

– 3 thin slices of lemon

Combine the coriander seeds, fennel seeds, cumin, and black peppercorns in a jar, stir well, and set aside.

Bring two cups of water to a simmer. While the water is heating, pound the ginger with the mint to break it up a bit.

When the water is hot, stir in 1 tablespoon of the dry mixture and the ginger-mint mixture. Simmer for 3-5 minutes, remove from heat, cover, and allow to steep for another 3 minutes or so. Place the lemon slices in a strainer, and strain the tea through the lemon into a pot or container.

Makes 2 cups of tea, with enough of the dry tea blend for another 3 pots or so.

Prep time: 3 min – Cook time: 5 min



131:Mint Lime Iced Tea


For the tea:

8 cups (2 quarts) water

8 green tea bags

1 bunch fresh mint

1 1/2 cups superfine or granulated sugar

To serve:

1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (from about 4 medium limes)


6 fresh mint sprigs, for garnish (optional)

1 medium lime, cut into sixths, for garnish (optional)

Place the water in a medium pot and bring to a simmer over high heat. Remove from heat, add the tea bags and mint, cover, and let steep for 10 minutes.

Once the tea has steeped, discard the tea bags, add the sugar, and stir until the sugar has completely dissolved. Let cool to room temperature, then place in the refrigerator to cool completely, about 2 hours.

Once the tea is cold, remove the mint and stir in the lime juice. Taste and adjust with more lime juice or sugar as desired. Serve over ice with a sprig of mint and a wedge of lime (if using).


Making Traditional Mint Tea

Method 1

Put 2 cups of water into a cooking bowl.

Mix the two cups of water with the mint leaves.

Boil the water. Once the water starts boiling stir it with a spoon for about three minutes with the mint in it.

Wait until the three minutes are up and then strain it and throw the leaves away.

Add sugar according to your desire.

Method 2

Put the kettle on.

While it’s boiling, stuff a bunch of leaves loosely into a tall glass (or whatever you have). It’s good to rough them up a little – this will encourage the aroma.

Pour the boiling water onto the leaves.

Use sugar or honey to sweeten to taste.

Note · It’s OK to drink the tea without removing the leaves. You could put the mint in a coffee filter paper and pour the water through them- then you don’t get the leaves!

+You can also add a squeeze of citrus juice to the mix (orange is good), but it’s not required. Lime juice gives it a friendly punch. Have fun!

Method 3

Put the mint leaves into a pan.

Add two cups of water.

Put the pan on a medium fire and boil.

When the mixture is boiled, tip it into a teapot.

Pour it out and add sugar to taste

2 cups water

8-10 green cardamom pods

Add the water to a saucepan and bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Crack open the green pods and add to the saucepan and simmer for 2-3 minutes. The cardamom seeds will dissolve in their pods.

Turn off the heat, and if using, add the teabags and the orange rind (or juice) and let steep for 5-10 minutes.

Remove the teabags and pods, and if you like a bit of sweetness, add the honey or agave and serve:

Do not give peppermint to an infant or small child. Peppermint oil applied to the face of infants can cause life-threatening breathing problems. In addition, peppermint tea may cause a burning sensation in the mouth. For digestion and upset stomach in older children: 1 – 2 mL peppermint glycerite per day.

There are a few ways of making fennel tea, you can use the feathery fennel leaves, chopped fresh root or ground fennel seeds.

Drinking this tea can give relief from constipation, indigestion and gas. Plus the strong aniseed flavour is excellent for freshening the mouth and combatting bad breath.

Respiratory : Fennel is useful in respiratory disorders such congestion, bronchitis

Menstrual Disorders: Fennel is also an Emenagogue, i.e. it eases and regulates menstruation by regulating hormonal action properly in the body.

Eye Care: While using fennel in food helps protect eyes from inflammation, disorders related to aging, macular degeneration etc.

Fennel as an herb has wonderful antioxidant, anti inflammatory and decongestant as well as anti spasmodic properties.

Fennel tea drunk just three times a day is thought to improve the symptoms of most upper respiratory tract ailments such as bronchitis, whooping cough, and asthma. The tea itself is easy enough to make if ready-made tea bags are not available. Steep the seeds in boiling water for about 10 minutes, then strain before drinking.

Fennel herb tea can also be used as a wash and can help breastfeeding women suffering with sore nipples or infection. Just dip a cloth in the tea mixture and apply to the affected area three times a day

1½ tsp fennel seeds

2 tbsp orange juice (preferably fresh)

In a coffee grinder or your pestle and mortar, crush or grind the whole fennel seeds and add to a saucepan with the water.

Bring to the *boil, then simmer for 2-3 minutes. Turn off the heat, add the orange juice, and if using, add the green tea and let steep (sit) for 5 minutes. Remove the teabags and pour through a strainer.

Home made chai masala must be stored in a dry , air tight container, preferably a glass it in a cool dry place and it will last for 6 months Always use a dry spoon otherwise moisture ma lead to hardening of the powder..

This recipe added either to milk or tea is great to chase fever and cure sore throat.

Health Benefits

Due to presence of the spices in it, chai masala has numerous health benefits.

+Drinking tea, which consists of chai masala is useful in colds and reduces cough in those people who are prone to common cold.

+ It’s also believed to improve energy, vitality, and circulation , hence this beverage is generally consumed in the mornings.

+It rejuvenates the system and aids in digestion.

+ Cardamom, present in chai masala; improves digestion and stimulates metabolism.

+ Cinnamon is found to have antibacterial and anti fungal infections. It is also proven to reduce blood sugar levels considerably.

+Black Pepper improves digestion and promotes intestinal growth. It helps to decrease blood cholesterol and triglycerides, boost immunity, and reduce the risk of stomach ulcers.

+Ginger has been used extensively for its health benefits since ages. It relaxes muscles and improves circulation of blood. It reduces inflammation , flatulence and helps in thinning of blood.

Masala Tea Powder


Cardamom Powder 1/2 t/s

Cinnamon Powder 1/2 t/s

Cloves Powder 1/2 t/s

Ginger Powder 1/2 t/s

Pepper Powder 1/4 t/s


Mix all the above ingredients and make a fine powder.

You can use this powder when making Chai.

Even if you are making a quick cuppa with just adding the water , tea bag, you can add a pinch of this powder to enhave the flavor.


Another Recipe


350ml/12fl oz water

100ml/3½fl oz milk

4 black peppercorns

10 green cardamom pods, lightly crushed

good pinch green fennel seeds

small piece cinnamon stick

1 tsp fresh ginger, peeled and roughly sliced

1 tea bag

sugar, to taste

salt, to taste (optional)

Preparation method

Heat the water and milk in a pan with the spices and ginger until it comes to the boil. Turn the heat down and cook over a low to medium heat for 15 minutes. Be careful as the milk can easily rise and boil over.

Once the volume is reduced to a large cupful, add the teabag and let it brew for one minute, or longer if you like strong tea.

To serve, strain into a cup and add sugar or salt if using, to taste.


Another recipe for 8 cups


4 cups water

2 whole star anise

1/2 tablespoon ground cardamom

12 whole cloves

2 cinnamon sticks

1 large piece ginger, candied or fresh, diced

1 teaspoon-1 tablespoon crushed black peppercorns

2 bay leaves

8 bags black tea (or equivalent loose)

4 cups milk, hot

1/4 cup honey, or brown sugar

Preparation Instructions


Combine all ingredients except milk and sweetener, and boil for 10 minutes. Strain. Add the hot milk, and mix, with your choice of honey or brown sugar.


135:.Basil Tea Recipe (Tusli )

The tulsi or holy basil is an important symbol in the Hindu religious tradition and is worshipped in the morning and evening by Hindus at large. The holy basil is also a herbal remedy for a lot of common ailments.

It is a member of the mint family, and for hundreds of years, its oils, infusions and extracts have been valued for their uses as an antioxidant and as an antibacterial.

Basil essential oil : is used topically to massage the skin. It enhances the luster of dull looking skin as well as hair It is also used for acne and skin infections.

Basil oil improves blood circulation and thus helps in increasing the metabolism.

It is analgesic and provides relief from pain. Hence it is used in arthritis, wounds, injuries, burns, bruises, scars, sports injuries, sprains, headaches, etc.

Basil essential oil is also a good treatment for itching from bites and stings from honey bees, insects and even snakes.

Basil essential oil blends well with bergamot, clary sage, clove bud, geranium, lime, lemon, hyssop, juniper, eucalyptus, neroli, marjoram, rosemary, melissa and lavender.


NOTE :Basil essential oil and basil in any other form should be avoided by pregnant and breastfeeding or nursing women. On the other hand, some people suggest that it increases milk flow. .


Medicinal uses of Basil (tulsi.)

  1. Healing Power: The tulsi plant has many medicinal properties. The leaves are a nerve tonic and also sharpen memory. They promote the removal of the catarrhal matter and phlegm from the bronchial tube. The leaves strengthen the stomach and induce copious perspiration. The seed of the plant are mucilaginous.


  1. Fever & Common Cold: The leaves of basil are specific for many fevers. During the rainy season, when malaria and dengue fever are widely prevalent, tender leaves, boiled with tea, act as preventive against theses diseases. In case of acute fevers, a decoction of the leaves boiled with powdered cardamom in half a liter of water and mixed with sugar and milk brings down the temperature. The juice of tulsi leaves can be used to bring down fever. Extract of tulsi leaves in fresh water should be given every 2 to 3 hours. In between one can keep giving sips of cold water. In children, it is every effective in bringing down the temperature.


  1. Coughs: Tulsi is an important constituent of many Ayurvedic cough syrups and expectorants. It helps to mobilize mucus in bronchitis and asthma. Chewing tulsi leaves relieves cold and flu.


  1. Sore Throat: Water boiled with basil leaves can be taken as drink in case of sore throat. This water can also be used as a gargle.


  1. Respiratory Disorder: The herb is useful in the treatment of respiratory system disorder. A decoction of the leaves, with honey and ginger is an effective remedy for bronchitis, asthma, influenza, cough and cold. A decoction of the leaves, cloves and common salt also gives immediate relief in case of influenza. They should be boiled in half a liter of water till only half the water is left and add then taken.


  1. Kidney Stone: Basil has strengthening effect on the kidney. In case of renal stone the juice of basil leaves and honey, if taken regularly for 6 months it will expel them via the urinary tract.


  1. Heart Disorder: Basil has a beneficial effect in cardiac disease and the weakness resulting from them. It reduces the level of blood cholesterol.


  1. Children’s Ailments: Common pediatric problems like cough cold, fever, diarrhea and vomiting respond favorably to the juice of basil leaves. If pustules of chicken pox delay their appearance, basil leaves taken with saffron will hasten them.


  1. Stress: Basil leaves are regarded as an ‘adaptogen’ or anti-stress agent. Recent studies have shown that the leaves afford significant protection against stress. Even healthy persons can chew 12 leaves of basil, twice a day, to prevent stress. It purifies blood and helps prevent several common elements.


  1. Mouth Infections: The leaves are quit effective for the ulcer and infections in the mouth. A few leaves chewed will cure these conditions.


  1. Insect Bites: The herb is a prophylactic or preventive and curative for insect stings or bites. A teaspoonful of the juice of the leaves is taken and is repeated after a few hours. Fresh juice must also be applied to the affected parts. A paste of fresh roots is also effective in case of bites of insects and leeches.


  1. Skin Disorders: Applied locally, basil juice is beneficial in the treatment of ringworm and other skin diseases. It has also been tried successfully by some naturopaths in the treatment of leucoderma.


  1. Teeth Disorder: The herb is useful in teeth disorders. Its leaves, dried in the sun and powdered, can be used for brushing teeth. It can also be mixed with mustered oil to make a paste and used as toothpaste. This is very good for maintaining dental health, counteracting bad breath and for massaging the gums. It is also useful in pyorrhea and other teeth disorders.


  1. Headaches: Basil makes a good medicine for headache. A decoction of the leaves can be given for this disorder. Pounded leaves mixed with sandalwood paste can also be applied on the forehead for getting relief from heat, headache, and for providing coolness in general.


  1. Eye Disorders: Basil juice is an effective remedy for sore eyes and night-blindness, which is generally caused by deficiency of vitamin A. Two drops of black basil juice are put into the eyes daily at bedtime. .


1/2 cup Basil Leaves (Tulsi Leaves)

21/4th cup Water

2 tsp Tea Leaves (Chai Patti) or 2 Tea Bags

To taste Sugar (Cheeni)

As needed Milk (Doodh)

How to make basil tea:

In a small tea pan bring water and basil leaves to boil.

Lower the heat and allow to brew for 3-4 minutes.

Now add the tea leaves or tea bags and sugar as per taste.

Bring to boil.

Turn off the heat and strain it into cups and add milk as per your taste.


An other recipe of Basil tea

Ingredients: (makes 2 cups)

2 cups water

3 tbsp chopped fresh basil leaves


1½ tbsp dried basil


tbsp = tablespoon


Fresh: Add the chopped basil leaves to a cup, and pour on some just *boiled water and let steep for 5 to 10 minutes before serving. If you chopped them finely enough, you can drink the fresh basil.


Dried: You can use it just like loose tea leaves and do the same as above, or, add the water to a saucepan and heat to *boiling point. Turn off the heat, add the dried basil and let steep (sit) for about 5-10 minutes. This makes it easier to re-heat (if needed), and to pour through a strainer.


136.Masala Lemon Tea


  1. Cumin Seeds (zeera) – 1/2 teaspoon
  2. Lemon -1
  3. Tea Powder – 1/4 teaspoon
  4. Water – 2 cups
  5. Sugar – to taste


  1. Dry roast the cumin seeds till a nice smell emerges
  2. Crush these seeds in a pestle to form a powder and keep aside
  3. Extract the juice of the lemon and keep aside
  4. Boil The water in a pan
  5. When the water starts boiling, add the sugar, stir well and turn off
  6. Add the lemon juice, crushed cumin (zeera) and tea powder and put a lid on the pan
  7. Let it stand for 3 minutes, Strain the tea and serve hot

TIPS: For healthier option go for honey instead of sugar can be served chilled with ice to get iced lemon tea


137:.Turmeric Tea Recipe (Haldi )

Drinking turmeric tea can ease arthritis pain, reduce acne, and may prevent certain cancers to name just a few.

Recipe For Homemade Turmeric Tea Ingredients: (makes two cups)

2 teaspoons ground turmeric

½ a teaspoon ground ginger

½ a teaspoon ground cinnamon

Squeeze of lemon juice

2 cups of water

Agave nectar or honey (optional)


Put the water and ground spices into a saucepan and bring to the *boil. Simmer for 2-3 minutes, then let steep (sit) for 5 minutes and pour through a tea strainer. Add lemon juice and agave or honey if you fancy a bit of sweetness.

Verdict! I used the above ingredients to make one cup! And all I can say is it’s powerful stuff! It certainly has a kick! The taste wasn’t bad, I think the lemon juice certainly helped.

*If using spices for health purposes, I don’t boil the spices for long since boiling may destroy some of the essential oils and therefore some of the turmeric benefits.

o Mix two spoons of tomato juice with 2 spoons of rose water; apply on your face. This mix helps to treat sunburn/suntan effectively.

Oatmeal and honey One of my favorite homemade face masks. Mix to a soft spread and apply to the face for 15 minutes. Use once a month as a deep cleansing mask.
Oatmeal and cucumber Grate enough cucumber juice to mix into a soft paste and apply to the face, hands or feet for 15 minutes for a refreshing and cleansing mask.
Carrots and turnips Cook and mash. Spread onto face and leave for ½ hour. Cleanses and refines the skin.
Cucumber juice Grate and collect juice. Add to cool water and wash your face for an instant cooling and refreshing sensation.
Cucumbers Cut a small cucumber into pieces. Soak for 5 hours in milk. Gently apply mixture to burn area.
Egg white Lightly whisk and apply to the face to cleanse and close large pores.
Buttermilk Astringent, helping to reduce large pores. Apply to the face and leave for 10 minutes. Rinse with tepid water.
Honey and egg Mix 1 spoon honey and 1 beaten egg white. Spread over the face and leave for 15 minutes. Rinse with tepid water. Refines the older skin type.
Lettuce juice Scald lettuce in a little boiling water. Squeeze out the juice. Apply to pimples and rough skin.
