Nutritional supplement for adults.: Gymnema Sylvestra extract:In vivo studies have indicated that extracts of Gymnema Sylvestre containing gymnemic acid suppress the elevation of blood glucose levels by inhibiting glucose uptake in the intestine and by increasing insulin release from the pancreas. The major mode of action was proposed to be through increased permeability of the Â-cell plasma membranes, leading to unregulated loss of insulin from the cells. The high saponin glycoside content of the extract is thought to be responsible for this action. In addition, calcium 2+ -sensitive component is present; some degree of insulin release may occur through channel-independent calcium 2+ influx into the beta-cells, perhaps through the pores formed by plasma membrane disruption.

Embellica Officinalis Extract: The fruit extract has an anti-oxidant properties .It is a carminative and stomachic. The aqueous extract increases cardiac glycogen levels and decreases serum GOT, GPT and LDL in rats having induced myocardial necrosis. It is used in Ayurveda as a cardiotonic, aphrodisiac, antipyretic, antidiabetic, cerebral and gastrointestinal tonic. It raises the total protein level and increases the body weight due to positive nitrogen balance. It has been found to have an anabolic effect. Along with other herbals , it helps to reduce the blood sugar levels . It has also been found recently that tannoids of E. officinalis are potent inhibitors of AR ( Aldose reductase ) and suggest that exploring the therapeutic value of natural ingredients that people can incorporate into everyday life may be an effective approach in the management of diabetic complications.

Curcumin : Curcuma longa (Zingiberaceae) has been used traditionally as antidiabetic, and has been proven scientifically to possess high antioxidant activity and anticancer properties. The active components of Curcuma longa such as curcumin and tetrahydrocurcumin (THC), a major colourless metabolite of curcumin also possesses antidiabetic, antiinflammatory and antioxidant activity. The THC possesses a significant beneficial effect on glycoprotein moiety in addition to its antidiabetic effect. The effect of THC is more prominent than curcumin.

Fenugreek extract: Fenugreek seed mucilage compared with tumeric was more effective in ameliorating diabetic state .It is employed as a herbal medicine. Its seeds are known for their carminative, tonic and antidiabetic effects. A curative dose of Trigonella foenum-graecum also produces antiulcer action. Trigonella foenum graecum (fenugreek) seed powder improves glucose homeostasis in alloxan diabetic rat tissues by reversing the altered glycolytic, gluconeogenic and lipogenic enzymes.
