Description

Edible Gum is a natural edible gum. It is white or brown in colour. It provides heat to the body and is usually eaten in cold winter months.

How to select

Edible gum is available in market in small pieces that are usually white or brown in colour. Check the packets are sealed and the pieces are firm and dry.

Culinary Uses
· Edible gum is used in making panjiri mixture – whole-wheat flour, nuts, gaund, and sugar fried in ghee.
· It is used to make laddoos with mixture of coconut, dried dates, poppy seeds, almonds, jaggery fried in clarified butter.
· It is used to make chikkis ( mixture of edible gum and various nuts.

How to store

Store edible gum in air-tight bottles away from moisture.

Health Benefits

Edible Gum is known to be beneficial for pregnant ladies at it strengthens back bone.

Gundar or Gondh is good for health and it provides numerous health benefits.  Gundar pak consumed mostly during winter to protect from cold.   It tastes delicious along with providing strengthens to joints.

How does it work?

Guar gum is a fiber that normalizes the moisture content of the stool, absorbing excess liquid in diarrhea, and softening the stool in constipation. It also might help decrease the amount of cholesterol and glucose that is absorbed in the stomach and intestines.

There is some interest in using guar gum for weight loss because it expands in the intestine, causing a sense of fullness. This may decrease appetite.
