A rash under the breast is a very common kind of skin rash. Often people compare a breast rash with other skin disorders like psoriasis and eczema but in reality a breast rash is a totally different thing. The main reasons behind breast rash are excessive sweating and wearing an ill-fitting bra which can rub against the breast. Sometimes it can even be due to some kind of allergic reaction, infection of breast tissue due to breast-feeding, staying in humid atmosphere and so on. A breast rash can cause red patches on the skin, burning sensation, itchiness, skin dryness and great discomfort.
Normally such kind of skin rash is harmless but if proper treatment is not done it can lead to cracked skin and sores and serious infection! Instead of going to a doctor, you can try some simple and easy natural remedies at home to get rid of the pain and discomfort of a rash under your breast.
1. Cold Compresses
To get rid of a rash under the breasts you should apply cold compresses. Take some ice and wrap them in a thin cotton towel and then put it over the affected skin area for five to ten minutes at a time. Take a break and then repeat the process again. At the same tome a skim-milk and cold-water compress can provide relief from the itching and reduce the swelling that often happens when suffering from breast rash and also prevent infection. You should also try bathing with cold water as it will help in closing the pores of the skin. Closed pores means less sweating and thus it can effectively reduce the appearance of breast rash.
The best way to deal with breast rash is to try to reduce the accumulation of sweat around the breast area. You can easily do it by placing a thin piece of cotton between the lower breast and the skin underneath to absorb moisture. You can also use the soft fluffy paper dinner napkins for absorbing the excess moisture around the breast area. At the same time it is highly recommended to wear light clothing preferably made of cotton or natural fibers. Such clothes are better as they help a lot to absorb the moisture and keep your body sweat free.
Cornstarch is a highly effective ingredient that can be used to deal with the itching and burning sensation symptoms associated with a breast rash. First clean the affected skin area with soap and water, pat dry it properly with a towel. Once the area is completely dry, lightly dust cornstarch over it. Wait for ten minutes and then clean the area. Make sure not to apply cornstarch on moist or wet skin as it will increase the risk of fungal infection. Follow this remedy at least twice daily until you completely get rid of the problem.
At times the harsh chemical residue present on your clothes can also be the reason behind breast rash. You can solve this problem by washing all your clothes in a vinegar solution. Add a half cup of white vinegar in half bucket of hot water and use it to wash all your brassieres and finally dry the clothes in direct sunlight. Another option is to apply white or apple cider vinegar onto the irritated area. First wash the infected area with mild soapy water, rinse with cold water and pat dry it completely. Now take a small amount of vinegar into your palm and apply it to the infected area. Do this once daily, but if it causes discomfort, stop using vinegar.
5. Calamine Lotion
Calamine lotion when used on breast rash can also provide soothing relief from itching sensation. It will also fasten up the healing process. First clean the affected skin area with a mild soap and lukewarm water and pat dry the area with a towel. Now take a cotton ball soaked in calamine lotion and apply it gently over the affected skin area. Soon you will get relief from itchy and prickly feeling. At the same time calamine lotion will also help to keep the area dry and thus reduces the chances of infection. You must follow this remedy several times a day.
A rash under the breast area can be easily treated with the antiseptic and antifungal properties present in garlic. Take eight to ten fresh garlic cloves and put them in a blender to make a fine paste out of it. Now soak a clean cotton ball into the garlic paste and apply it directly over the affected skin area. Follow this remedy three to four times a day to get rid of the problem quickly. Instead of garlic paste, you can also use garlic oil. At the same time you must increase the intake of garlic in raw or cooked form to fasten up the healing process.
