Treat Skin Allergies With These

Home Remedies

Your local drug store is full of remedies for skin allergies, but most of these are rather expensive and may have risks of side effects. The next time you are experiencing skin allergy symptoms, try one of these natural treatments before resorting to drugstore medications. These allergy remedies are both safe and effective, and you may probably have them in your home.

Bananas

Bananas are loaded with antioxidant compounds which, when applied to your skin, can help reduce the swelling and inflammation associated with allergies. The potassium in bananas also helps restore a healthy fluid balance to the affected skin. For best results, rub the inside of a banana peel directly onto your itchy patches. Do not wash the skin for at least an hour after treatment, and repeat this process as often as necessary to keep itching at bay.

Oatmeal

If your skin allergies are affecting a large portion of your body, or if it is in an area that you have trouble reaching, you may want to soak in an oatmeal bath. Just place a large handful of quick-cooking oats into a bathtub of warm water, then step in and relax for as long as you wish. The soothing oatmeal contains natural moisturizers to calm itching and reduce redness.

Green tea

If you are experiencing allergy symptoms in sensitive areas, such as your face, neck or genitals, green tea is a safe remedy to try. Steep a strong cup of tea by using two standard green tea bags in one cup of water. After allowing the tea to steep for at least 10 minutes, remove the tea bags and use cotton balls to rub the soothing tea on your allergy spots. This is likely to reduce the allergy symptoms without irritating your sensitive skin; it also helps reduce your risk of infection.

Sandalwood

Sandalwood may be a little harder to find than the remedies described above. However, if your allergic reaction is accompanied by a burning feeling, there is no better choice. Use a rubbing rock to grind powdery pieces of a sandalwood stick, then combine this powder with a few drops of water to make a paste. Rub this paste on your skin, and feel it immediately relieve the burning sensation while it also fights infection.

Allergy remedies do not have to be expensive or loaded with complex chemicals to work well. It may take several days of treatment, but with these natural remedies, you can relieve the itching and pain of skin allergies without worrying about side effects or emptying your bank account.
